Spoon previewed new material at a secret show
That ninth album is looking a lot more likely…
American rockers Spoon played a hometown show in Austin’s Antone venue over the weekend and slipped a couple of new tracks into their set.
The band themselves posted their setlist on Twitter and Instagram. It featured songs from across their career including ‘Rent I Pay’ and ‘Inside Out’ from 2014’s ‘They Want My Soul’ and ‘Don’t You Evah’ from ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga’. The list also featured a number of previously-unheard tracks: ‘Whisper’, ‘Talk You Into It’, ‘Hot Thoughts’ and ‘Can I Sit NXT2U’.
In December, the band changed the images on the front page of their website and profile pictures on Twitter and Facebook to the image of a skull. So can we expect the release of their ninth album this year? The signs are looking pretty good.
See the band’s setlist as well as some footage taken from the gig below.
