The boys are back! Returning with big, sunshine-soaked, banger ‘Think’, The Magic Gang are giving us the first taste of their highly anticipated sophomore album. Full of soaring horns, and classic Magic Gang uplifting melodies, it’s pretty impossible not to crack a smile upon listening.
“It’s a cautionary tale,” says guitarist and vocalist Kris Smith. “It’s about avoiding conflict and reminding yourself not to make things difficult at everyone’s expense.”
“We’ve managed to sprinkle in our influences from all over the shop,” bassist and vocalist Gus Taylor told us of what we can expect to hear from their second LP back in our December 2019/January 2020 issue. “There’s still those big almost road-rock tunes, but there’s disco elements, Northern soul tinges, hip-hop influences. As songwriters, we don’t rely on being a guitar band; we’ve got more than that to us. I think people will be taken aback by the first track we put out. I think people will be like, ‘Are you sure this is The Magic Gang!?’”
