News Blood Cultures

Faceless and foreboding, Blood Cultures’ debut track is the kind that defines a year like 2013.

Name

: Blood Cultures
Based: New Jersey
Listen: ‘Indian Summer’
Similar to: Grimes, Neon Indian

Despite their tracks spreading through online buzz aggregators like wildfire, recently hyped R&B sensation Oceaan and funky soul collective Jungle have kept their identities firmly under wraps - the building enigma keeping new music fanatics eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

Get ready for the latest addition to the list of mystery producers: Blood Cultures – the chosen moniker of a New Jersey based dance-pop mastermind who’s managed to spark off something colossal with debut track ‘Indian Summer’. The track itself is a hazily chilled slice of synth pop with delicate, lofty (supposedly male) vocals sitting amongst splattered, freak-out synth pulses. Then enters some glorious computerised noises, which fizzle and trickle throughout and a programmed beat, so catchy it could’ve been lifted straight from a Chvrches track.

With just one track on his otherwise desolate Bandcamp and Soundcloud pages, a faceless press shot and non-existent Facebook / Twitter presence; its early days for Blood Cultures. In this case however, the sounds of promise-oozing ‘Indian Summer’ speak far louder than a bloke on Twitter talking about his favourite kind of coffee – expect big things from this endearing newcomer.
