Preview Citadel 2016
Sigur Rós and Caribou will take over London’s Victoria Park today.
The sun is out and summer finally feels to be under way. Festival season, however, has been in full swing for ages now. That doesn’t mean that we’re bored of watching bands in green fields just yet though: there’s still some right gems to come. This year’s edition of Citadel is one of those, and after its launch last year - featuring the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Ben Howard - it’s returning to London’s Victoria Park with even more of a musical spread on offer.
Having already wowed audiences at Glastonbury and Primavera Sound, Sigur Rós will be making their live return to London to give fans a taste of their tremendous new live show. While their new album is yet to be announced (or even confirmed - we’re just crossing our fingers here), the Icelandic trio have made quite a stir on the festival circuit so far this summer. Their headline set tonight will no doubt be a highlight.
Elsewhere cross the line-up, Lianne La Havas will be topping the Communion in association with DIY stage, where she’ll be offering up a raw taste of her newest full-length ‘Blood’, while Battles and Cat’s Eyes will be showcasing their own new music too. Oh, and good ol’ Dan Snaith will be appearing too, for one of Caribou’s only live appearances this summer.
To get yourself ready for the day ahead, here’s a few of DIY’s favourite picks from the line-up.
Caribou - Our Love
Lianne La Havas - Unstoppable
Cat’s Eyes - Everything Moves Towards The Sun
Battles - The Yabba
Gillbanks - Nerve
Sigur Rós - Óveður
