News Forrests
Mind-blowing electronic music; an eye-gouging reminder of the power of the gadget.

The opening seconds of Forrests’ debut track make perfect sense: glowing with energy, grand synth patterns gradually rise into an uncontrollable force - get within a mile of this thing and be prepared to see it explode. Explode it does. Like the most forceful electronic music; ‘Billions’ is an eye-gouging reminder of the power of the gadget. We mention Fuck Buttons as a touchstone and the similarities are plain to see: Think ‘Olympians’ compressed into three and a half, even more intense minutes and you’re about halfway there.
Accompanying this momentous statement is the kind of sharp imagery (see the band’s website, for starters) that might usually find itself associated with minimal or techno electronic releases. Pristine, perfectly-formed; if this truly is a ‘side-project’ from Paul O’ Reilly and Owen O’ Mahony’s work under the Channel One guise, there are miles and miles of open space waiting to be explored by another act with similar intentions. Fingers crossed forthcoming debut album, ‘Wilder’, does all the hard work first.
