Introducing Get To Know… FEET

Learn more about the Coventry newcomers and their new single ‘English Weather’.

Hello and welcome to DIY’s introducing feature, Get To Know… With two new acts a week, the feature pretty much does what it says on the tin: getting you a little bit closer to the buzziest new acts that have been catching our eye as of late, and working out what makes them tick.

We’ve recently introduced you to Brisbane’s Hatchie, Oslo’s Girl In Red, Cannibal Hymns-signed Brighton newcomer NANCY, the buzzy Biig Piig, weirdo Londoners Sistertalk and Oxford’s Lacuna Common. Today, we’re with FEET.

The band released their new single ‘English Weather’, but it’s nowhere near as bleak and miserable as its title; the track is a jangly stomp that battles against saint awful conditions as they sing “English weather, you better pack an umbrella” atop a sprightly synth line.

Ahead of a UK tour in February (peep the dates at the bottom of the page), listen to ‘English Weather’ and get to know the band a little better in our Q&A below.

Describe your music to us in the form of a tinder bio.

Young, dumb and full of… our pockets are empty, please buy our record.

What’s your earliest musical memory?

Harry: Mistaking Michael Jackson’s singing with a woman’s singing voice.
Rains: Dancing, naked in the kitchen, to S Club 7.
Oli: Listening to ‘By The Way’ by the Chili Peppers
George: My mum blasting S Club 7 in the Renault Espace
Ben: My brother playing me ‘Elephant’ by The White Stripes

Who were some artists that inspired you when you were just starting out (and why)?

Parquet Courts - I liked the artwork and they were cool… and they had two singers.

Talking Heads - Harry didn’t want to admit it was actually the Chili Peppers

Radiohead - Oli in first year spent more time being pretentious than going to uni

You’re based in Coventry, whats the music scene like there at the moment, are there any other artists breaking through at the same time that you take inspiration from?

We’ve flown the concrete nest that is Coventry, and since moved about all over, but we’re excited to see how the scene has changed since we left when we return on our Feb/March tour.

Who would be your dream collaborator?

James Murphy, Kevin Parker, Beck

Musically or otherwise, what are you most looking forward to in 2019?

Our debut LP, the new Alan Partridge show, our first headline tour, Star Wars Episode 9, releasing music videos.

If people could take away one thing from your music what would it be?

Don’t be a bumhole and have some fun.
