Introducing Get to know… Sons Of Raphael

The London duo begin a UK tour with Yak tonight (23rd October).

Hello and welcome to DIY’s introducing feature, Get To Know… With two new acts a week, the feature pretty much does what it says on the tin: getting you a little bit closer to the buzziest new acts that have been catching our eye as of late, and working out what makes them tick.

We’ve recently introduced you to Austin-based singer Molly Burch, Newcastle via London newcomer Brooke Bentham, Amsterdam’s Spill Gold, brilliant Stockholm-based newcomers Viagra Boys and Lala Lala, the Chicago-based project of Lillie West. Up next, it’s London duo Sons Of Raphael!

After playing a pair of shows in London and Paris for us last month and releasing their debut EP ‘A Nation Of Bloodsuckers’ via Because Music, the pair are heading out on a UK tour alongside Yak, beginning tonight (23rd October).

Listen to ‘A Nation Of Bloodsuckers’ and get to know the pair a little better in our new interview below.

What’s your earliest musical memory?

My father playing the piano.

Who were some artists that inspired you when you were just starting out (and why)?

We are only starting out now and it changes constantly. We like singers that sing with a clear and loud voice.

You’re based in London - what’s the music scene like there at the moment?

I have no idea I’m not really in it.

Who would be your dream collaborator?

They are all dead, it is over.

Musically or otherwise, what are you most looking forward to in 2018?

Recording our debut record.
