We also spoke to the band to get an insight into their new EP. Watch the video for ‘A Nation of Bloodsuckers’ and read our Q&A below.

Hello there! How’re you doing?

We are doing fantastic, we’ve got a golden life, we lead an extravagant lifestyle.

You’ve just announced details of your debut EP - what was it like working on it?

Loral: We had a hell of a time, and did a hell of a job. I don’t have the figures on me at the moment, but you are more than welcome to call our accountant.

How did the process begin, and what did you want to explore on the EP? What sort of impression did you want to give listeners with it? How long did it take to bring together?

Ronnel: Well initially I wrote ‘A Nation of Bloodsuckers’ for a talent show in boarding school and this opened the way for the rest of the EP. The songs were recorded almost entirely in my boarding school room on my tape machine, I would skip games to work on music. I was the only kid carrying a reel to reel tape around my school, the jocks gave me dirty looks.

The title track also comes accompanied by a video directed by Loral (which you can watch above - Ed) - can you give us a bit of an insight into the clip itself?

Ronnel: It is an attempt to create a visual representation of the the tension between the self and the non self and challenge the linear thinking so characteristic of this age.

Why did you decide to self-direct and what was it like to taking it into your own hands? What was it like working with by Manuel Alberto Claro on the cinematography?

Loral: I left with no choice but to direct it myself because I couldn’t connect with most directors or find someone that I would like to collaborate with on this project, and the very few people that I do genuinely like told me that I should just go ahead and do it myself since I know what I want and the idea is already there, so I did. Manuel is the absolute best. Brilliant eye, but more important a great person.
