News Listen: Foxygen Preview New Album With ‘Shuggie’
Devastating Bowie-channelling single is a taste of a 2013 record through Jagjaguwar.
Foxygen are a duo consisting of Sam France and Jonathan Rado, two early twenties musicians working together from different States. Their new track sort of picks up on this long distance creativity, with ‘Shuggie’ diverting itself through all kinds of sonical influences and quick detours - easy thirty seconds is like a chapter to a whole new story, with gentle, Reggae-fused verses trading blows against grand Bowie-esque choruses.
The song’s closing section is even more flummoxing, doing at least four musical pirouettes within 30 seconds, genre spanning like some kind of time warp through the ages.
Foxygen have a new album - their first ‘proper’ of sorts, bar a few Bandcamp release - through Jagjaguwar. It’s titled ‘We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace & Magic’, it’s due out 22nd January, 2013.
