Interview Mellah talks Liverpool Sound City and throwing mud at David Cameron
The South Londoner heads North for the two-dayer this weekend.
Ahead of releasing his new EP ‘Middle England’ next month, supremely exciting South Londoner Mellah heads North to Liverpool Sound City this weekend.
With EP previews ‘Paseo’ and ‘Cigarette Lighter’ out in the world, and a brilliant disregard for genre across the tracks and debut EP - last year’s ‘Liminality’ - it’s set to be one of the weekend’s buzziest sets.
With that in mind, we spoke to Liam Ramsden about his 2018 plans, his hopes for festival season, and throwing mud at David Cameron’s car (obviously).
You’re playing Liverpool Sound City festival this May, is it one you’ve been to before?
No we’ve never been, really looking forward to it, I love the city.
Are there any bands playing the fest that you’re definitely going to see?
Going to try and catch Alaskalaska, Sorry, Superorganism, King Khan, Matt Maltese and Puma Blue.
Could we be in with a chance of hearing any new material at the show?
For sure. We’ll be doing tracks off the new EP as well as some unreleased material.
Any big highlights of last year’s festival season?
Throwing mud at David Cameron’s sports car at Wilderness was a highlight. Music wise, I saw an amazing live band called Honeyfeet at Secret Garden Party, incredible front woman called Rioghnach Connolly, her voice is unbelievable, she’s a force of nature.
If you could give punters one bit of advice for when it comes to festivals, what would it be and why?
Come and see us, we’ll give you the feelies.
What one item do you take with you when you’re on the festival trail to make life more luxurious?
A duvet.. it makes all the difference, turns a tent into a home.
Mellah plays Liverpool Sound City this weekend (5th-6th May). You can buy tickets now here.
