Latitude 2015 Shura: “I had a smoothie disaster on the way to Latitude!”
With her debut very nearly finished, Shura’s busy perfecting the art of koala-napping on tour.
Backstage at Latitude a fairly dazed Shura is trying to find her bearings . She’s just arrived after heading straight up from Germany’s MELT! festival, and her journey here was not without its hiccups. After a tour of the M1’s service stations, and a minor beverage disaster, she’s looking ahead to playing the iArena.
“I haven’t even left this bit!” says Shura, gesturing around her dressing room. “We had to take a lot of wee stops en route. Totally my fault, cos I drank way too many smoothies. I had a smoothie disaster actually,” she adds pointing at a slightly spotty jean leg, “and the worst of it is hidden underneath this sticker. It looks really gross, really grim. But I can’t do anything about that now,” she shrugs.
From what she has seen of Latitude, though, it’s a very positive assessment. “It’s a little bit dusty, which is good,” she says, pointing out that it’s “preferable to mud.” “We have to load our gear on a boat to get to the stage,” she adds excitedly, “which is awesome.”
SOAK informed us on Friday that Shura will be appearing onstage in a Soakasaurus outfit, and Shura does nothing to quell the gossip. Thing is, she still needs to find the costume, with mere hours to go. “I’ll have to go on a treasure hunt, but I’m quite keen. I might just have to start duct taping stuff to my shirt,” she reasons. “If I can find one, I’ll do it.”
