News The Neu Bulletin (13th September 2012)

Your mandatory dose of new music recommendations, chosen by Neu.

Neu never sleeps. While you’re recovering from your latest musical discovery or gig experience, we’re out there searching for more stuff to recommend. From gig nights to new music, here’s everything you should be devoting your day and evening to:

WHO’S PLAYING WHERE?
We’ve been looking forward to this one for a few weeks now. Petite Noir’s debut show in the UK - in the world, actually - takes place at London’s Old Blue Last. He caught Neu’s eye in the first week of this month. We were enraptured with Yannick Ilunga from the off: “These vocals: they make every off-hand phrase a grand statement, a declaration of intent,” we said. How those vocals translate in a live venue will be fascinating.

Petite Noir is supported by Swim at The Old Blue Last tonight, London. Details here.

For those a little more rooted in dreamy synths and luscious textures, head over to see Chad Valley at London’s Sebright Arms for a show ahead of his forthcoming debut full-length. Tickets are sold out, though keep an eye out for any spares.

And outside of the hub of London, AlunaGeorge play Kingston’s New Slang. It’s a very special intimate performance from an act bound to take off towards crowds of the thousands. Support comes from Neu favourites Alpines. Details here.

WHO’S MAKING WAVES?Between You And Me is a producer - Jonathan Abramson - making crystallised electronica, deep and immersive in nature and loose in structure. Dive down into the heart of ‘Feast’ and you’ll find a truly breathtaking indication of a forthcoming EP, titled ‘Crystal Aquarium’. Stream below:

FURTHER NEU BUSINESS Not only are Fear Of Men one of the most exciting acts in the U.K, they also make for a thrilling live band. Dark, sweaty rooms are the setting of choice if you’re begging for the full experience. And so it’s with pleasant surprise that we see them mastering the light and breezy Bowlegs studios with such mastery. It’s an excellent session; further proof of Fear of Men’s brilliance.
