New music guide The Neu Bulletin (18th March 2015)
DIY’s new music tips, featuring INHEAVEN and Waylor.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.
THE BIG NEU THING:INHEAVEN — REGENERATION
Inheaven find themselves in the heart of East London, aka ‘Regeneration’ central, where affordable flats are replaced with cereal cafes, decent pubs shunned for another boxpark. With that, the new outfit’s debut track is fittingly defined by an anxiety and sense of being replaced. Fearful chants splinter out the fuzz, blissfully coming to the standard conclusion that we’re all clearly fucked.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS:waylor — Evangeline (I Need A Sign)
Pointing towards the skies and praying for an answer, there’s a sense of desperate plea in the debut track from waylor. Hailing from Birmingham, this is the new project of Matthew Taylor of Dry the River. ‘Evangeline (I Need A Sign)’ sees him taking to a Villagers-style subdued trip, honesty linking together every unlinked seam. Debut EP ‘SLOWLANDS’ is out 30th March.
