THE GIG
Parquet Courts support The Men - London, Garage

Parquet Courts’ first visit to the UK is being met with the kind of anticipation saved for Popes and Presidents. Tonight’s show with The Men is by definition their biggest amongst many dates this week. Tickets are priced at £11, at the time of writing it’s nearly sold out. Get ‘em here.

THE SONG
worries - Go Away

Alex Williams used to make music under the name Tokyo Gardens, which gives hints of the dreamy, escapist sound he so proudly sports. But given the recent name change to worries, we’re witnessing emotions step into the headiness of his recordings. Doubts, fears, what have you, they weave their way into ‘Go Away’, to the point where the song’s heavenly instrumentation is cast aside for a moment, whereby you’re left with a striking tale of youth and all its grim realities.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Soldier’s Heart - African Fire

This definitely isn’t the finished product, but Solider’s Heart clearly sport something that overwhelms that knowledge that tiny, less vital ingredients might have gone askew. It’s the erratic, structure-shifting style of ‘African Fire’ that makes it both an endearing gem and an excitable, slightly naive introduction. The Belgium four-piece never sit still, and that’s only ever going to be a huge positive when it comes to future releases [via. Disco Naivete]
