THE GIG
Parquet Courts, Royal Limp - Brighton, Audio
Our undying love for New York’s Parquet Courts shows no sign of coming to any kind of abrupt halt. If you missed their gigs in London this past week tonight they play in the brilliantly intimate, low-ceiling-ed Audio venue, with Royal Limp in support. It’s gonna get sweaty.
THE WEEKEND GIG
London Old Blue Last all-dayer: Best Friends, Nai Harvest, Playlounge, Pjaro, Mystyrys (Saturday 23rd)
Bring your earplugs, ok? That’s a disclaimer we ought to put out before urging all of you to come hang at London’s Old Blue Last for an all-dayer event featuring almost every fuzz-furthering band in the UK, not least our favourites Playlounge (pictured, up top) and Mystyrys.
THE SONG
Pale King - An Airing
An Airing by Pale King
Evan Abeele of Memoryhouse’s been working on this Pale King shindig on the side, staying put in Toronto and naming his project after a David Foster Wallace novel. ‘An Airing’ is a muted debut release, shunning standard ambient escapism for something more muscular, with a beautiful, jaw-dropping punch to define its conclusion. This could soundtrack weddings, funerals, adventures, just about anything so long as it’s a moment of significance.
