THE GIG
Blaue Blume - London, Sebright Arms
Danish extroverts Blaue Blume last played in London during a Neu Presents show. What to expect this time round: Falsetto vocals than purr, doomy guitar sections and a song The Smiths should’ve wrote if they’d had any wits about them. That’s no exaggeration, either.
THE SONG
Prints - Work This Out
Prints’ debut song recalls the strung-out, take-another-toke 60s and the paranoid, melancholy-struck 90s in one fatal blow. It’s the kiss of death for revivalist-haters, folks who say retro has no place in the current landscape. If ‘Work This Out’ had been penned in a previous era, it would’ve been picked out as minor triumph. As it stands today, it has every potential of doing the very same. Woozy tones are wrapped up in delicious grunge, to the point where it becomes a seamless waltz where eras are but a second thought.
