THE GIG
JAWS - London, Barfly

JAWS are standing aside from another B-town centric bill (a free show at London’s Old Blue Last featuring Superfood) by headlining a show of their own in Camden. Attention’s upped in the past couple of months - these guys are proving themselves to be a genuine force.

THE SONG
Kero Kero Bonito - Sick Beat

While M.I.A stirs up attention by getting sued and battling her label in public, Kero Kero Bonito spit harsher truths outside of the spotlight. A London act with a love for all things Japanese, this is Lost In Translation gone giddy, some kind of crazed bringing together of two worlds. ‘Sick Beat’ is taken from a new mixtape out next week, clashing languages and chants like a locking of sticks between several different tribes. It’s batshit crazy and at the same time, everything that’s required.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
GANG - Can A Bull Love?

Last week the tides turned and GANG announced themselves, running amok with a debut EP so sinister and full of rotten ideas it’d turn the freshest bunch of daisies into a pile of muck. Their ‘Can A Bull Love?’ video ups the Queens of the Stone Age-style anti, with psych influences lining the seams of an all-thrills onslaught of yucky, cutting force. One of the most exciting new bands around today, no doubt about it.
