THE GIG
Anna Meredith - London, Tipsy Bar

Eventually she’s promising shows with lions and fire-breathing dragons. For now, composer turned ultra-inventive producer Anna Meredith sports her new ‘Jet Black Raider’ EP in an intimate Dalston hang.

THE SONG
San Mei - Brighter

Aus-based Emily Hamilton flirts with the foundations of a genre before battening down the hatches. Her latest track ‘Brighter’ is bound to be on the end of the odd Grimes comparison, which if anything is a reward. Don’t be fooled though: The guitar flecks and synth swashes that rule over this new song are close to being one of a kind. Dagger-like and cutting in its intentions, it’s pure optimism sent through an oddball vortex.

‘Brighter’ is out 16th September on Tidal Wave.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Christy - Masba

Up until now, “You stay classy, San Diego” may pop into your head every time you think of America’s finest city. But garage-rock threesome Christy (Also from San Diego and named after singer Julian Klincewicz’s mum) may have the potential to capture this part of your mind, with Julian’s gruff vocals and their bright guitar melodies combining swimmingly on their debut album ‘Mike’. You stay breezy, Christy. [Sam Cornforth]
