New music guide The Neu Bulletin (28th November 2014)

DIY’s daily new music tips, featuring Menace Beach, Dracula Legs, Makhaverskan, Night Lovell.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Menace Beach support Pulled Apart By Horses - London, Heaven

You’ve been warned. Menace Beach’s debut album ‘Ratworld’ is going to turn a lot of heads. Think catchy, pummelling, ridiculously loud numbers have their limit for this Leeds group? Think again. Tonight they bring the force to the capital’s Heaven, supporting fellow Yorkshire giants PABH.

Elsewhere this weekend, head over to see:

- Black Honey, playing London’s Old Blue Last for free (Friday 28th).
- Wyldest and Dios Mio playing London’s Shacklewell Arms (Saturday 29th).
- Dracula Legs headlining The Finsbury, London (Saturday 29th).
- Makthaverskan’s London debut at Birthdays, with support from Matagot (Sunday 30th).

THE BIG NEU THING:
Night Lovell

Canadian rapper Night Lovell seems to have a habit of picking out the darkest, most gloomy samples going, before lacing haunting lines from all sides. With a debut project incoming (‘Concept Vogue’), his early tracks take fragments of witch house and 2k14 go-to newcomer Spooky Black, inserting clarity into otherwise murky pieces. Rough around the edges, but there’s enough potential to suggest he’s onto something.
