THE GIG
Phoria - London, The Old Blue Last

Playing shows in home city Brighton surrounding this here date, Phoria land in London to perform a special free show at the Old Blue Last. Their recording prowess has been proved time and time again, ‘Red’ still standing tall as one of the songs of the year. If they can replicate it live they’ll be onto a winner.

THE SONG
Her Trust - This Feeling
summer demo by Her Trust

Gosh, you can practically hear the Austin songwriter placed behind this project pouring themselves another glass and punching the clock. “I drank too much wine”, they confess, like you hadn’t already guessed. Waltzing guitar lines draw ‘This Feeling’ to a swooning close, by which point Her Trust is essentially the musical output of a drunk on the steps of your front door, dipping their finger into a tempting dose of curry sauce. Add a touch of class and that’s ‘This Feeling’.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Faux Fur - Faux Fur LP
Faux Fur by Faux Fur

No overstatement: This’ll go down as one of the most undersung but utterly brilliant releases of the year. Faux Fur are a Calgary band with links to Women and Chad VanGaalen and all those unhinged guitar types. You should know this. This debut self-titled album is a collection of all their all-ferocity odes to limbless excitability to date. It begins clever and calculated and it gets progressively more curious and enticing as it persists. The kind of album you need to spend a good week or two living with in total isolation.
