Young Dreams, Woman’s Hour - London, Lexington

After a good year out of the spotlight, Woman’s Hour are ready to announce themselves in full-form. This Lexington show marks their live return proper, and apparently they’ve even made tote bags for the occasion. Tickets are £5 advance and there’s the small matter of Young Dreams acting as headliner.

Blaue Blume - On New Years Eve

Copenhagen based Blaue Blume make distinctly theatrical music, the sound of Wild Beasts’ Hayden Thorpe sending his falsetto to breaking point. Debut song ‘On New Years Eve’ was picked up by Crack in the Road last week. Frontman Jonas Smith is a source of wonder. The song shifts and stirs and it never settles into one standalone spot of comfort. That’s where the appeal stems from.

Wyoming - Afterword

Again, cast your eyes further to one side of Europe and you’ll discover something exciting. This German bunch name themselves after a US state, and their shape-shifting alternative musings are very much in debt to Americana and stately rhythm sections by way of Tokyo Police Club and The National, at a push. The debut ‘Fountain’ EP is a strange coming together of ideas, with occasional highs such as the excellent ‘Afterword’.
