News The Neu Bulletin (7th January 2013)
Neu’s new music recommendations are here to ease you into the New Year.
The Neu Bulletin returns with its new music recommendations. If there’s a gig that’s worth heading to, we’ll tell you all about it, and if there’s a song you need in your life, we’ll make sure you don’t turn a blind eye.
THE SONG
Savoir - Zinli Rhythm
Call us reactionary fools, but there’s enough going on in this debut Savoir track to suggest it’ll be up there as one of the year’s finest. Skittering percussion that David Byrne would likely speak in tongues for, and the kind of chorus that turns experimentalism into something joyously accessible, ‘Zinli Rhythm’ is too good to ignore. Perth producers Andrew Sinclair and James Ireland are behind the act, and this early offering is enough to suggest it’s the best thing they’ve both put their name to in their respective careers to date.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Disque Blanc
If French producer Disque Blanc has single handedly crafted the sound of 2013, we won’t be complaining. You might think you’ve heard all the soothing downtempo synth patterns you can cope with, but there’s an edge to this new ‘Whale’ track that takes things up a notch, drilling a hole in your inner stress and leaving you a calm, fuzzy mess.
