The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.
THE GIG
Jungle support Haim - Brighton, Dome
Still remaining shadowy figures, the almighty JUNGLE head off on their biggest dates so far this month in support of LA trio HAIM. The new XL Recordings signings release ‘Busy Earnin’’ next month. What a single - funk-stamped brilliance with a beat that doesn’t quit
THE BIG NEU THING
Hunck - Toy Trucks
Hunck is a new band featuring members of MT and Parakeet, with none other than Jonathan Boulet providing drums on the stir-crazy stomper ‘Toy Trucks’. Like a group of stoned teenagers gliding by in the back of trucks speeding across motorways, there’s a gleaming gloss to this early offering. Sleepy and very much content with its slumber, this is one to drift off to.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
SOFT PINK
SOFT PINK by Soft Pink
LA’s Soft Pink sound like a kid having a tantrums because he’s been given too few toys. Nothing but a bass amp and a fuzzy microphone. He rebels by thrashing the living daylight out of each of these tools, throwing a musical fit and somehow ending up with something redeemable. The three tracks on his debut EP together span 5 and a half minutes. It ends up sounding like Micachu stumbling into a No Age practice session.
