Lauv: “It’s the most pure and raw album I’ve ever made”

Interview Lauv: “It’s the most pure and raw album I’ve ever made”

Returning with new track ‘26’, we catch up with Lauv to find out what’s coming next.

Two years on since the release of ‘~how i’m feeling~’ now, Lauv is back with new song ‘26’. The first track from his forthcoming second album due later this year, he says of the song, “I wrote 26 about growing up and trying to find your light, the one you lose touch with as you get older. It marks the moment I’m stepping back into the world and taking control of my narrative again.” We sent him over some qs to find out a lil’ bit more about what he’s got in store for the year.

Hey Lauv, how are you?
I’m good! How are you?

Better now that you’ve released your new single ’26’! Can you tell us about the story behind the track?
I wrote this song mid-COVID. It was the start of me understanding what this album was going to be about. It’s a big reflection point and a turning point in my life.

What made this song stand out to you as the one for your return?
It just makes sense to me as it’s setting the stage for everything that’s about to come — both in my life and in my music.

It’s the first track taken from your brand new album! What can you tell us about your new record?
Without saying too much, it’s the most pure and raw but also the most big album I’ve ever made.

How is it different to your debut?
It’s very different but also really similar — it kinda picks up where I left off, especially with a song like ‘Modern Loneliness’, and really expands it into a full world.

What would you say is the most surprising thing about the new album?
Probably how raw it is lyrically.

What do you hope your fans will take away from it?
I hope everyone who listens to it will go enjoy their life while listening to it.

What other surprises have you got planned for 2022?
It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you! Love you though!
