In the magazine March 2014

Featuring St. Vincent, Metronomy, MØ, Real Estate, The War On Drugs & More.

DIY’s 27th issue features the incredible St. Vincent on the cover. Since the DIY bunker first heard her new self-titled album at the end of last year, we’ve come over a bit funny. And why not? Brilliant, funny and fearsome with an axe, Annie Clark is probably the best person, like, ever. Read this month’s cover and all will become clear.

Elsewhere in the new issue of DIY, Joseph Mount from Metronomy sheds the pressures of being a twenty-something and opts for a more laid-back approach with new album ‘Love Letters’. There’s also Eagulls, a bunch of fired up Leeds punks arriving with a momentous debut LP. Dan Croll might be standing out as a specialist in immediate, hard-hitting pop, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. We find out about the confessions of a metalhead… New Jersey geo-dudes Real Estate explain why things aren’t so ‘relax, man’ on their new record, while The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel explains why the reception to his last album even took him by surprise. Blood Red Shoes explain why they’re going back to doing things their own way, faces up to her ‘møment’ in the spotlight with a brilliant debut album and The Hold Steady talk about being excited to be in a rock band again. Plus there’s the fallout from this year’s BRITs, a guide to all the summer festivals, interviews with Johnny Foreigner, The Amazing Snakeheads, Neu features on NYC trio Wet and exciting Manchester group Spring King. All that, and in reviews we give three five-star reviews for the year’s best albums so far.
