Abi Ocia starts a fire in video for ‘Running’

West Londoner Abi Ocia made some pretty strong first impressions when her debut single ‘Running’ arrived back in September. Soulful but cutting r&b, the track set the pace for a career that’s already got a slew of momentum.

The track’s new video, playing first on DIY as today’s Neu Pick, is a suitably intense accompaniment, the smoke-filled clip accurately replicating the track’s inner darkness. Ocia told us a little about the clip below.

“The visual explores how the mind can lead us astray, but ultimately we hold the power to burn away the things that can consume us. It is only through times of adversity that we can be refined – as gold in a fire – and bought to a place of clarity and abundance. The talented director Jack Wells, and editor Joseph Rodrigues Marsh, really helped to draw out the subtlety of these elements in the video, finding the perfect balance between the sinister and the beautiful.”
