Beastie Boys’ Mike D to drop debut solo album ‘Thank You’
Marking his much-anticipated return to music, the LP will arrive at the end of August.

Mike D - aka a founding member of hip-hop disruptors Beastie Boys - has announced that he’ll be releasing a solo album entitled ‘Thank You’ on 28th August via Fontana.
The first full-length project from the Beastie Boys camp since the group’s 2011 outing ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 2’, ‘Thank You’ will feature Mike’s recent singles ‘What We Got’ and ‘Switch Up’, as well as his groove-flecked, Madchester-channelling latest cut ‘True Colours’.
Born from a series of experimental, casual sessions at Mike’s home studio, ‘Thank You’ promises to be a truly technicolour collaborative affair featuring contributions from his sons Skyler and Davis, as well as the likes of Carter Lang, Jared Solomon, Ging, and more.
“It’s been so much fun making this music with people I love and I have grown to really appreciate in our collaboration,” Mike has shared, reflecting on the record’s overall ethos. “And I just hope it’s fun for others and not overly serious, because let’s be real, I’m releasing this music into a very strange and dark and power-fixated world that really devalues art and feelings and compassion and empathy and equality.”
He’s not wrong, but ‘True Colours’ is a surefire way to help ease any existential blues - check it out for yourself here:
