Biffy Clyro share festival anthem-in-the-making ‘Instant History’

It’s a biggie!

Mon the Biff! The boys are back with new track ‘Instant History’ and lord knows they’re not messing about.

The first track to emerge from their surely-imminent eighth album, it finds the rock titans fully embracing their stadium-sized stature with a chorus that’s destined to be hollered around Summer 2020’s festivals.

Described very modestly by singer Simon Neil as “the biggest, most slammest pop moment we’ve ever worked on” (as Ru Paul would say, if you can’t love yourself…), he goes on to say that “It’s a fantastic opening statement, although musically it doesn’t reflect the album’s direction. But thematically it’s a good pointer for what the album is about: learning from mistakes and realising how you can move things forward. Things can be similar although they’ll never be the same, but let’s not be scared of that.”

The record is the band’s first studio album proper since 2016’s chart-topping ‘Ellipsis’, although they have been busy bees in the interim, pumping out an ‘MTV Unplugged’ acoustic record and film soundtrack ‘Balance Not Symmetry’. Now, however, they’re clearly firing on all mammoth cylinders again and, frankly, we couldn’t be happier.
