Biffy Clyro talk new album: “It sounds like Deafheaven meets Tears for Fears meets Death Grips”
Follow-up to ‘Opposites’ is due out in 2016.
In the new, December 2015 / January 2016 issue of DIY (out Friday 4th December), Biffy Clyro tell all on their new album.
The follow-up to ‘Opposites’ is due next year, and frontman Simon Neil is dishing out some interesting comparisons. “My main aim of this record is that I want to make a record that sounds like Deafheaven meets Tears for Fears meets Death Grips,” he tells Sarah Jamieson in the new issue. “I don’t know if we’ll get anywhere near it, but that’s the three touchstones of songwriting and sonic architecture that I want us to try and go for.”
He adds: “I truly believe that we’re doing something on this record that we haven’t ever tried to do before. We’re really trying to fuck with the sound of what we do, and we’re not trying to do it as a live band in a room.”
