Big Special share disarming new single ‘DRAGGED UP A HILL (and thrown down the other side)’
It’s a strikingly raw cut that reveals the duo’s softer side.

Following the surprise release of their second album ‘NATIONAL AVERAGE’ (which landed back in July) and a more recent Sleaford Mods collab, Big Special have now offered up another standalone single entitled ‘DRAGGED UP A HILL (and thrown down the other side)’.
A song that’s just as much of an emotional sucker punch as its name suggests, it sees the pair strip back their distinctive combination of power and poetry to its bare bones, taking on an almost elegiac feel as Joe Hicklin’s voice soars and stutters over a bed of gentle organ.
Speaking about their latest effort, Big Special have described the track as “a song written a while ago that we picked back out of our dusty drawer. It’s about the old labouring days and the feeling of getting nowhere in love and work, despite the graft. Disclaimer: Don’t listen whilst drunk.”
Listen to ‘DRAGGED UP A HILL (and thrown down the other side)’ for yourself below.
