Björk is working on her next album
“I’m still allowing myself to be a submarine,” she told comedian Julia Davis.
Björk is currently working on her new album. Speaking to the comedian Julia Davis (best known for her appearances in Brass Eye, Nathan Barley, Nighty Night, and Gavin & Stacey) for a joint interview in AnOther, she gave an update on progress towards the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Vulnicura’. “I’m writing my next thing,” said Björk, adding ” I’m still allowing myself to be a submarine; I don’t totally have the view of it yet.”
Given that ‘Vulnicura’ was an especially brutal break-up album, Björk told Davis that her new material is far more optimistic. “The last album, we sort of call it “hell” – it was like divorce!” she said. “So we are doing paradise now. Utopia. We have done hell, we have earned some points.”
“It’s really early on, and I don’t even know if I should say, but I have got three songs down with Alejandro [Ghersi, AKA Arca], who I worked
with on the last album [Vulnicura],” she added.
The update comes shortly after Tri Angle Records boss Robin Carolan said that Björk was in the studio. “Her new material is going to blow you all away, he said.
