Blue Bendy return with idiosyncratic comeback single ‘Poke’
“Is a Facebook poke still hot ten years on?”

Sharing their first new music since the release of debut album ‘So Medieval’ last year, London six-piece Blue Bendy have offered up returning single ‘Poke’ - an ambitious, pop culture-laden mediation on guilt, stagnation, and Facebook best practice.
It arrives in the wake of a period of turbulence for the band, who, following their LP’s release, very nearly broke up. Back from the brink with new members and an old affinity for the arch, though, Blue Bendy are now looking firmly ahead to an Autumn on the road supporting Floodlights and Black Country, New Road - including a turn at their South London stomping ground’s most hallowed venue, Brixton Academy.
Speaking about ‘Poke’, vocalist Arthur Nolan has described the track’s lyrics as the intersection of “terrible hedonistic tendencies” and “rural social reclusion”. Continuing, he notes: “but for me it’s just like any fetishised nostalgic romance pop song. Who started the rumour of my insanity, and is a Facebook poke still hot ten years on? This pretty much sums up our last 18 months perfectly. Maybe with a pinch of salt.
Revisit our last interview with the band and check out the visualiser for ‘Poke’ below.
