Brendan Benson Starts Label, Reveals Album Details

The Raconteur will release ‘What Kind Of World’ this April.

Brendon Benson is always going to garner a few comparisons with his friend and fellow Raconteur Jack White, and that’s unlikely to change with news of a new record label and publishing company.

Titled Readymade, the new venture will release his next album ‘What Kind Of World’ digitally on April 21st via brendanbenson.com with a physical release following on April 24th. The label was first active in the 90s as a means for Benson to release his ‘Wellfed Boy’ demos as a 12’ vinyl, but is seemingly a far bigger concern this time around.

Speaking about the label, business partner Emily White explains: “Brendan produced 5 albums in 2011, including his own. Launching Readymade gives us the option of a release platform tailored to each album under the same home. We wanted a way for Brendan to be able to create music when and how he wants and be able to put out the music sans any barriers. The answer to what we were looking for is Readymade.”

The label has also signed Nashville’s Young Hines, who release new album ‘Give Me My Change in April.
