Brussels cinema to celebrate Björk with new festival

Multi-event programme to host “sound art” concerts and installations.

Brussels cinema to celebrate Björk with new festival

A gallery/cinema in Brussels, Belgium, is set to host its own multi-event celebration of Icelandic musician Björk.

Beginning in January next year, GALERIES will play host to several events. The cinema will air films starring the musician/actress (Lars von Trier’s ‘Dancer in the Dark’, Keene Nietzcha’s ‘The Juniper Tree’) before hosting its own installation in the cinema’s exhibition space.

A concert will be hosted in collaboration with artistic team Q-O2, with Anat Spiegel and Henry Vega curating a showcase of “experimental music and sound art.” They promise an instrumental piece, creating a “digital language” in honour of Björk and inspired by the voice of Anat Spiegel.

Björk is expected to release her next studio album in 2015. She’s reported to have been working with London-based producer Arca, and she was recently spotted attending a PC Music-curated party in the UK capital. A recent statement on the artist’s official site explained her non-attendence at a London film premiere by saying: “We are so sorry, but since Björk is already working on her next album (out in 2015!) she can not come to the ‘Biophilia Live’ premiere at the London Film Festival this week.”
