Drift away with Cal Raasay's soothing 'Breakers'

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Cal Raasay.

Northumbria-based singer Cal Raasay is releasing new EP ‘Rona’ next month, and its latest track ‘Breakers’ is today’s Neu Pick.

The song was inspired by the beautiful Isle Of Skye, and the isolation and the beauty of the location seeps in to every facet of the track, literally in some senses, as he explains.

“The sounds of waves crashing in the percussion are actual waves I recorded at Neist Point on the Isle of Skye. I wasn’t sure why I decided to record the sounds of the waves on the day I was there; but a few months later whilst I was trying to synthesise the sound of waves breaking, I remembered those recordings and set about incorporating them into the fabric of ‘Breakers’”.

The ‘Rona’ EP follows Cal’s debut collection ‘Still’ from earlier this year, and will come out on 9th November.
