Ugly announce plans for long-awaited debut album ‘The South Facade’
Its exact release date is still TBC, but we know the LP will arrive next year.

Folk-rock six-piece Ugly have revealed that they’ll be dropping their debut album next year, and confirmed that it’ll be entitled ‘The South Facade’.
The record will be their first release since their 2024 EP ‘Twice Around The Sun’, and, much like that project, is set to incorporate their choral background into experimental, textured post-rock soundscapes. Recorded in Wales, ‘The South Facade’ saw the Cambridge-hailing band then head down to London to work with Balázs Altsach, a production assistant who’s worked with the likes of Blur, Pulp, and Arlo Parks at Paul Epworth’s Church Studios.
Introducing the album is Ugly’s brand new single ‘Gallowine’, which they’ve described as “one of the most hard hitting tracks” on the LP. Continuing, they have noted: “”Gallowine’ came from the final writing week we did for the album and has become a band favourite to play live since its conception.
“It features a lot of elements that make the band what it is: nonsensical words, bouncy/interwoven guitars and ambitious harmonies - just a few of the motifs that we explore in the song. It’s hard to say exactly what the song is about but it provides an air of the fantastical - switching between modes of heroic jubilation and chaotic descension.“
