New Heavenly signings CHAI make an electrifying introduction on ‘N.E.O.’
The four-piece’s debut EP ‘PINK’ and a UK tour with Superorganism are to follow in October.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from CHAI.
Japanese four-piece CHAI are the latest signings to Heavenly Recordings, and waste no time introducing themselves on debut track ‘N.E.O.’.
It’s not a half-hearted endeavour, listening to CHAI. From the moment the single bursts into life, it grabs you by the neck and demands you sit upright for a journey through jaggedy guitars, pulsating synths and relentless, probing vocals.
‘N.E.O.’ is the first preview of the band’s debut LP ‘PINK’, out on 12th October via Heavenly. Speaking of the track, the band say: “Everyone, if we could be exactly who we are, that would be great right? Worrying is normal you know? Complexes are individuality. Complexes are art. Kawaii is a never-ending journey! This is “N.E.O. Kawaii”!!!!! Enjoy.”
CHAI are set to support Superorganism on their UK tour in October. View the dates and listen to the brilliant ‘N.E.O.’ below.
