Chance The Rapper to host home school open-mic night

Chicago-born rapper heads back to his hometown on the look-out for new talent.

Chance The Rapper is going back to his roots by hosting an open mic night in his hometown of Chicago.

Set to take place tonight (Monday 9th February), the event intends to give “highschool rappers, poets, dancers, singers and comedians” a platform for their fledging work and a chance to make an impression on the rapper himself. Entry is open to performers of any discipline, on the proviso that they hold an Illinois high school ID.

Back in the studio, Chance The Rapper has been hard at work on the forthcoming (but currently release date-less) Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment album ‘Surf’. Slowly drip-feeding cuts from that record since last autumn, details of his own upcoming debut album have been similarly hazy, although the likes of Andre 3000, J. Cole and Frank Ocean have all recently being confirmed to feature.

Listen to The Social Experiment cut ‘No Better Blues’ below.
