Clean Cut Kid seek escape with ‘Runaway’

It’s all chants and sky-reaching choruses for the Liverpool group.

Liverpool four-piece Clean Cut Kid have unveiled their new single, ‘Runaway’.

Earlier this summer, the four-piece announced themselves with ‘Vitamin C’, a sickly sugared dose of triumph complete with chants, hand-claps - euphoria captured in a tiny capsule. ‘Runaway’ continues the theme. Hints of Haim and Fleetwood Mac pave the way for bright-eyed choruses, and frontman Mike Halls threads it together with bold, shape-making vocals.

The song was penned, says Halls, “after I’d spent the last tenner, of the last instalment, of my final year student loan… It’s a song about feeling beaten before you’ve even started the race, and that moment when you realise that there are just some things you’ll never escape.”

Luckily for Halls, he’s probably earned that tenner back after inking a deal with Polydor.

‘Runaway’ is released on 23rd October.
