Music video shoot transformed into a full-on gig - read Carolina Faruolo’s report.
Courtney Barnett played an impromptu gig yesterday afternoon outside Camden Town Station as part of the recording for new single ‘Nobody Really Cares if You Don’t Go to the Party’’s music video.
The location was kept a secret until the last minute. Posters were placed on various London billboards, with the Aussie posting only a couple of cryptic messages on social media: “Nobody really cares if you don’t come to our secret party this afternoon at 6pm somewhere in London. Except me, I Care” she tweeted. The rumours quickly spread after a fan spotted instruments being set up on Camden High Street under a massive billboard with the song’s title.
The track was performed several times with a full film crew capturing the scene from all angles, while a few dozen fans and passersby got to enjoy this free “busking” session.
After the shooting was completed, Courtney thanked the crowd for being part of her new video, and even jokingly placed a hat on the floor in case anyone wanted to take the busking experience to the next level.
“Should we do a few more songs then?” Barnett asked and the band continued playing for an extra half an hour, performing tracks such as ‘Avant Gardener’, ‘Pedestrian at Best’ and ‘Dead Fox’.
