Deftones Set To Begin New Album In July

Chino Moreno has confirmed that the band will enter the studio in July.

Deftones look set to enter the studio this July to begin recording their new album.

Speaking to Chilean website La Tercera, frontman Chino Moreno confirmed that the band had completed pre-production, and planned to head into the studio in July to record their seventh studio album.

‘I know everyone says this, but I think it will be the best album we’ve recorded,’ Moreno told the site. ‘I am very excited about because it sounds futuristic compared to our last album, ‘Diamond Eyes’ — so it feels like a step forward.’

“The songs are very different from each other, not heavier or slower, but more dynamic, going towards several directions, it’s heavy, but beautiful.”

Their follow-up to 2010’s ‘Diamond Eyes’ is slated for a late-2012 release and it has been reported that Nick Raskulinecz will return to produce the album.

Deftones last played in the UK when they performed at Reading & Leeds Festival last year.
