More than a myth
Dev Hynes and Connan Mockasin to play special recording residency at new Texas festival
New Myths is to take place just before SXSW, and also features Iceage and Grouper.

Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and Connan Mockasin are set to collaborate for a special new event in March, taking place just before SXSW in Marfa, Texas.
The New Myths event, organised by Mexican Summer, will feature a special ‘recording residency’ from the pair. Hynes and Mockasin are also set to release a special 12” vinyl documenting their collaboration, which will be recorded over the course of the event, and manufactured in the following months, scheduled to be available in August.
Continuing the weird one-offs set for the event, Grouper’s Liz Harris will construct what is being described as a “semi-permanent outdoor mural”, and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma will create something called a “sound bath”.
New Myths is to run over three nights over the weekend of 13-15th March, and will also include performances from Iceage and Gregg Kowalsky.
