Divorce draw inspiration from Wallace and Gromit for new single ‘Wendolene’
The track is one of three previously unreleased songs included on the just-dropped deluxe edition of their debut album.

Hot on the heels of a storming festival season (including standout performances at Green Man and The Maccabees’ big indie knees up at All Points East), Nottingham quartet Divorce have surprise released a deluxe edition of their acclaimed debut album, ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’.
The LP’s extended version includes three new tracks, including one - entitled ‘Wendolene’ - which draws inspiration from everyone’s favourite claymation duo (that’s Wallace and Gromit, for all you uncultured swine). “‘Wendolene’ hints at what lies beyond ‘Drive to Goldenhammer’, bridging a gap toward our next chapter,” the band have said of the song, explaining that “this edges into something darker than most of our debut record.”
Continuing, they add: “Also, this song pays homage through its title to A Close Shave, and if you have a sharp eye you may see a very niche reference to the film in the music video! Whilst we were recording we sung to pictures of Wendolene and Cilla Black, which I think if you listen carefully is very obvious in the vocal performance.”
Elsewhere on the deluxe edition of ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’, fans can also hear new cuts ‘O Calamity’ and ‘Chip’, as well as demos ‘Tiny Animals’ and ‘Pretty Lights’, and session versions of ‘Karen’, ‘Pill’, and Queen cover ‘I Want To Break Free’.
