Dry Cleaning share new song ‘Goodnight’

It’s the second single from their upcoming debut EP, ‘Sweet Princess’.

With their debut EP ‘Sweet Princess’ coming out in only 10 days (16th August, fyi), London quartet Dry Cleaning are sharing the latest glimpse into the six-track record with new release ‘Goodnight’. The follow-up to last month’s ode to Meghan Markle ‘The Magic of Meghan’ (no, really), their new song stitches together both personal and impersonal statements, with some quotes taken from overheard conversations.

“The lyrics are a mixture of inner monologue, YouTube comments describing memories of songs, and phrases collected from adverts on TV,” says singer Florence Shaw. “The YouTube comments represent strangers sharing poignant memories. The phrases from ads suggest our bodies are naturally disgusting, that we ought to work harder, and that our relationships might fail. ‘Goodnight’ is partly about feeling fed up with these ideas, and partly about feeling uplifted by openness on the internet.”
