Ed O’Brien from Radiohead met Kanye West and had a little chat about God

The guitarist “blew his mind”, apparently.

New Orleans Carnival is a bit of a free-for-all, admittedly. That said, a link up between Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien and Kanye West at the technicolour celebration is still fairly high up the ‘sure, if you say so’ list.

It happened though - Ed confirmed as much during part two of a new interview between himself and Dave Okumu of The Invisible, released as part of the Ninja Tune podcast.

They had a chat about God, as you do, Ed revealing that “I said, ‘If you asked pretty much any British musician whether they believed in God, I’d tell you that 99% of them would say, ‘Don’t be stupid, of course not.’’ It blew his mind. He was like, ‘You cannot be serious.’”

Poor Kanye and his little blown mind. Elsewhere in the chat, Ed discusses an “extraordinary spiritual experience” (not Kanye-related, this time), and then the usual gubbins: fame, staying grounded, the creative process and musicians becoming a conduit for a greater power. Standard fare, really.
