Fans launch Kickstarter to publish Tom Waits illustrated scrapbook
The book will chronicle the making of the short film ‘Tom Waits For No One’.
A Kickstarter campaign by Tom Waits fans has been started to publish an “illustrated scrapbook”, chronicling the making of ‘Tom Waits For No One’, a short film released in 1979.
Animated by John Lamb, the film shows Waits perform ‘The One That Got Away’, featured on Waits’ 1976 album ‘Small Change’. The director’s statement says:
“The production contents of ‘Tom Waits For No One’, and especially the scrapbook, have been close to my heart for decades. Through many ups, downs and mortality bending backflips, I’ve managed to hang onto most of the production elements from this film, which include the final cels, the drawings, the live action footage, the rotoscope itself and the video pencil tests created by this talented group of artists.”
The scrapbook will be limited to 250 copies with a goal of £5,500 hoping to be reached. The book will feature “animation cels, rotoscope drawings, character studies and background…documenting the artwork and inspiration behind Tom Waits For No One.”
Watch the film below and head to the Kickstarter page to find out more.
