Finn Wolfhard announces debut solo album ‘Happy Birthday’

Not content with having two other musical projects under his belt - Calpurnia and The Aubreys, if you need a reminder - Finn Wolfhard has announced plans to release his debut solo album later this year.

The Stranger Things and Ghostbusters actor is set to release his first solo full-length, titled ‘Happy Birthday’ on 6th June via AWAL, after setting himself the massive challenge to write 50 songs before the end of 2022. “I ended up writing a lot of terrible stuff, but a few of those songs I was really proud of went to the Aubreys,” Wolfhard explains, of how his debut came to life. “I started realising a general theme in a lot of the other songs involving my identity, anxieties, nostalgia, childhood and loneliness. All of that was a part of a bigger puzzle. I knew I wanted to make a record, but I didn’t know with which songs.”

Nine of those tracks have made the album - scroll down for the full tracklisting - and now, alongside new of the record, Finn has shared its lead single, ‘Choose the latter’, a scuzzy but bright offering tinged with nostalgia.
