Confirmed
Florence + The Machine announces new album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’
Florence Welch’s third full-length is led by new single ‘What Kind Of Man’.
Over the past week, trickles of information regarding Florence + The Machine’s forthcoming new record have been appearing online but now the facts are confirmed: ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’ will land on 1st June through Island Records.
Following on from the first taste of her third full-length - the record’s title track - which was unveiled last week, Florence Welch has now unveiled its first single proper, in the form of ‘What Kind Of Man’.
Having been previewed earlier today, the track was premiered this evening as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World, and now you can check out the full Vincent Haycock- directed video which accompanies it below.
The track gets taken from Welch’s follow-up to her 2012 offering ‘Ceremonials’, which was produced by Markus Dravs (who has previously worked with the likes of Björk, Arcade Fire and Coldplay) alongside contributions from Paul Epworth, Kid Harpoon and John Hill.
‘What Kind of Man’ begins gloomy - all warped, pitch-shifted vocals - before bursting into Florence-signed anthemia. The big surprise? An all-gusto, Black Keys-esque guitar line that centres around the track. “Let me dangle at a cruel angle!” Welch declares, and it’s the most sinister she’s ever sounded.
