Mix master:
Four Tet has remixed The xx’s ‘A Violent Noise’
Kieran Hebden has turned the ‘I See You’ cut into a club-ready banger.
So, how about a club-ready remix of one of The xx’s newest
tracks then?
After reworking a Todd Terje track that didn’t actually
exist yet and releasing his own mixtape of tracks by artists effected by Donald Trump’s Muslim ban, Four Tet is back with a brand new remix. This time he’s
taken on ‘A Violent Noise,’ a cut from The xx’s latest album ‘I See You.’
Taking the core of the track put pushing the vocals back
very (very) far into the mix, even though it kicks off with ethereal tones,
Kieran Hebden has taken the track in a very club-ready direction, filled with
propulsive beats and almost industrial touches. Not sure why the accompanying
image is of him holding a kettle though. Is that the “violent noise” referenced
in the title? Is that what produces the hissing noise throughout the track? Or
is that just how he made his tea while remodelling the tune? So many questions…
