Dream team:
Frankie Cosmos and Warehouse have formed new band Lexie
Greta Kline, Alex Bailey and Doug Bleichner have come together for the new project.
Frankie Cosmos’ Greta Kline has come together with Alex
Bailey and Doug Bleichner of Atlanta band Warehouse to create a brand new
project.
They’ve formed new band Lexie, who according to Stereogum
have already played a few shows across New York in the past couple of months,
distributing a few demos of their first recordings along the way.
In an interview with Australia’s Balcony TV, Greta shed some
light on how the new project came about: “We went on tour this summer with this
band Warehouse from Atlanta, and it was really fun. Me and the guitarist from
Warehouse had a really strong vibe about musical interaction — we gotta collab
on something — so we worked on it remotely because he lived in Atlanta so we
just sent some tracks back and forth and ended up with 8 songs or something,
and him and the drummer of Warehouse moved to New York recently and the drummer
is my roommate and we’re like, Doug, you should play drums, we should play
shows, we should make a record.”
Although they haven’t officially shared any recordings yet,
the new trio are set to play alongside Girpool and IAN SWEET at Brooklyn’s
Warsaw on 9th June.
Frankie Cosmos fans shouldn’t despair though, as Greta also
revealed that the follow-up to last year’s album ‘Next Thing’ is “about 70%
done.” Hurrah!
While we’re waiting for both Lexie and new Frankie Cosmos
material, revisit the latter’s video for ‘Sinister’ below.
